A highlight of the Salzburg Festival in 2013 was in the Verdi year the
acclaimed production of Verdi's opera Don Carlo, directed by Peter
Stein at peak Cast: Jonas Kaufmann and Anja Harteros, the dream couple
of the opera, with Thomas Hampson and Matti Salminen. Besides the
interesting directed by Peter Stein, it was mainly the musical
performance that wowed the audience: The Vienna Philharmonic found
under the baton of Antonio Pappano getting the right sound language,
and played the singer and sang fabulous.
